The objective is to maintain the quality of the works, to provide a facility, which will fulfill the employer’s requirement in the works design and construction, by:-

 

  • Maintaining a fully detailed daily diary of all work activities.
  • Reporting accurately all activities and issues which affect the progress and which provide a reflection of the contractor’s performance.
  • Ensuring that all works adhere to the contract documents.
  • Checking works are carried out only when prevailing conditions are suitable.
  • Checking that site conditions are appropriate and will not affect the works being implemented.
  • Ensuring that all works are available for inspection.
  • Monitoring the contractor’s progress with the employer’s/contractor’s agreed programme and where appropriate assist in maintaining the programme.
  • Checking that all works are carried out in the correct sequence.
  • Taking action where appropriate within the guidelines of the employer’s requirements and agreed duties, making decisions and answering contractor’s queries, ensuring that any instructions, verbally or written, are approved by the SO prior to issuing and are fully and properly recorded.
  • Monitoring that Health and Safety Construction Design & Management Regulations (CDM) documentation is in place and notices displayed.
  • Checking that H & S construction plan has been approved by Planning Supervisor (PS) and SO and that form F 10 is issued prior to starting.
  • Promoting a “Health and Safety conscious environment”, for all parties involved in and affected by the works.
  • Checking a Health and Safety file is kept on site and properly maintained.
  • Monitor the contractor’s awareness of the Health and Safety issues and requirements.
  • Insure that the contractor’s operatives, where applicable, are qualified and licensed to properly fulfill their work activity and that all plant and equipment is tested and certified as required.
  • Checking that all installed services and equipment can be reasonably and safely maintained, once the works are complete.
